A downloadable game

You are a death row inmate who's been made an offer, you must perform certain unsafe experiments for a period of fifteen days and in exchange, you will be granted your freedom and a blank slate.

To play this game you need:

  • Pen (or pencil, whichever one you prefer) and paper
  • A deck of traditional playing cards without jokers
  • A six sided die

This game doesn't really have any visuals at all, it's quite literally just write the numbers down as they come just for the sake of keeping track of your resources.

The numbers you need to keep track of are your current health (X/7) and the amount of chems (resource to perform the experiments with). If you run out of either of those, you instantly loose.

The playing cards effectively serve the purpose of randomizing the gain of resources, which is to say, chems, and the amount of resources you need per experiment.

 The deck is divided into two piles and then both are shuffled separately. One of the piles will contain the clubs and spades, which will be referred to as the black pile, and the other will contain the hearts and diamonds, which will be referred to as the red pile. The value of each card is determined by the following table:

At the start of your first day, you'll draw a card from the red pile to get a starting amount of chems. This is the only day where you start by drawing from the red pile, in the rest of the days this is performed at the end of the day. Then you'll draw a card from the black pile in order to know how many chems you must pay in order to perform it succesfully. 

Alternatively, you could pay only half the required amount but you have to roll the die, and if you roll a 3 or less, you fail the roll and you lose 1 health point. You can recover 1 health point by spending 2 chems at any given moment.

Whether or not you had success in the previous experiment you have the opportunity perform a second experiment in the same day, if you perform it successfully, you'll get a X2 multiplier for the next time you draw from the red pile.

After that, you now draw from the red pile in order to acquire chems for the next day, and you also have the opportunity to roll the die again in an attempt to double the amount of chems you get (this stacks with the X2 multiplier from the second experiment if performed successfully) but if you fail the roll by rolling a 3 or less you only get half of the chems you would have obtained otherwise.

The day is now over and you start the next day by drawing a card from the black pile and repeat the cycle until you die or you survive long enough to win.
